Club History

Formed in August 2014, Woden-Weston Football Club is a representative club for the Woden Valley and Weston-Molonglo regions of Canberra. The Club fields teams in the women’s and men’s National Premier Leagues (NPL) at all age group levels. The Club provides a pathway for talented players of the region to participate in the ‘best of the best’ pillar of football. Specifically, the Club provides opportunities for two supporting community clubs: Woden Valley Soccer Club (WVSC) and Weston Molonglo Football Club (WMFC).

The Club came into being after Capital Football (CF) released the entry criteria for the next license period of the NPL – ACT Division. Leaders of our two community clubs along with Woden Valley Senior Club agreed that meeting and exceeding the criteria required a unified regional approach. Accordingly, a joint bid was developed to pool all available resources and give the best possible service to the community of west Canberra at the NPL level.

The following people were instrumental in establishing the Club:

  • John Brooks

  • David Hakaraia

  • Steve Rohan-Jones

  • Alan Hinde

  • James McKay

  • Adrian Mullet

  • Ben Sakker Kelly

  • Chris Webb
