Lightning Cup 2018

The Lightning Cup is back again this year, scheduled for the 14th/15th April. There are two divisions (Cup and Shield) per age group, each strictly limited to four teams, so make sure to register early in order to guarantee your team a spot in your division of preference.

Registration

Registrations are now closed.

Divisions
  • The Boys/Open comp will feature Cup and Shield divisions for Under 10s, Under 11s, Under 12s, Under 13s, Under 14s, Under 15s and Under 16s, and a single Open Under 18s division.

  • The Girls comp will feature Cup and Shield divisions for a mixed Under 10/11s, Under 12s, a combined Under 13/14s and a combined Under 15/16s.

  • Cup is a higher division more suitable for NPL/Div 1/Rep teams.

  • Shield is a lower division more suitable for Div 2/Div 3 teams.

When
  • The Girls competitions and the Under 10 Boys divisions will take place on the 14th of April.

  • The remaining Boys/Open divisions will take place on the 15th of April.

  • The daily schedules will be provided once the draw is finalised. However, teams will be expected to be present at Mawson playing fields by 8 AM on their corresponding day of play. Matches will be aimed to finish by 5 PM, at which point closing ceremonies will begin.

There will be a managers' briefing at 7:30 AM on the day. Each team is expected to have a representative present at the briefing, the ONLY exception being teams that have to travel a long way such that they will not be able to arrive by 7:30 AM.

Where

The majority of the Lightning Cup will again this year be held at the Mawson Playing Fields, ACT. The U18 Open division will be held at Melrose.
